Tyler Florence's Cranberry-Orange Sauce

Cranberry

With Ken in the UK and my family in Florida, I had no set plans for Thanksgiving this year. I was actually pretty content to stay home, watch TV and make a small meal for myself.

My neighbors would hear nothing of it. Once they heard my plans I was immediately invited next door to share their Thanksgiving dinner with them. My friend, Danielle, did not have plans either, so I invited her to come, too.

I asked Kristin what I should make to contribute to dinner, she said to bring something that would make it feel like Thanksgiving to me. I decided on whole berry Cranberry Orange Sauce.

For me, the cranberry can either make or break the meal. I used to be a die hard tinned cranberry sauce fan. If it wasn't in the shape of the can, I wouldn't eat it. But one year, one of my family members brought over the whole berry sauce. I was hooked! Ever since, I have made a fresh cranberry sauce and was usually the only one to eat it. (My family are still big fans of the can shaped cranberry log.)

Thanksgiving morning I set out to make the sauce. It is so easy, I always wonder why everyone doesn't make fresh cranberry sauce. Of course this was the only dish I made, so I should probably just keep that comment to myself. :)

Note to self: Wipe down the sides of the serving dish before refrigerating.

Oh, I'm a huge homeade cranberry sauce fan myself. It's usually my contribution to the meal (easy to do the night before, after flying all day!) Really, I can't understand the allure of the cranberry log. Never could.
