Favorite {Photo} Friday! (#8)

DSCF4877
It's no secret that I have a lot of love for MINIs.

I love this photo because it really showcases just how different each of these little cars are, even just looking at the wheels!
I took this in June at Sand Beach on our way up to the summit of Cadillac Mountain when we were in Bar Harbor.
You'll probably see a few more MINI pictures make my Favorite Friday showcase.

Art Cards {Deck of Me} Project | Cards 1-3

DSCF5222

Some of the Inspired girls are channeling their creativity into projects that will last until the next Inspired Workshop scheduled for May 2009.

Sooz and Aimee are running an Art Card challenge. The concept is that you transform a deck of cards by answering a question a week. By the time a year is up, you have 52 cards that have been altered to portray different aspects of your personality. A personal "Deck of Me".

I was a little behind on this project since I went on vacation right when it started, but I spent this week catching up. First, I found a deck of cards that I think will be PERFECT for this challenge!! My MINI Brand Playing Cards! Whee!

Here are the first three cards.
Prompt # 1 asked: Which princess are you or wish you were?

Prompt #2: What gets you twitterpated?

Nouveaux Cinnamon Ice Cream

DSCF5256

I had a pint of heavy cream in my fridge just waiting to be whipped into some ice cream. I was debating what flavor to make. I was deciding if I should go with an old favorite or try a new one. I didn't have a lot of other ingredients, but I did have a pint of strawberries that were nearing their expiry date. A quick browse through my  copy of The Ultimate Ice Cream Book and I settled on Nouveaux Cinnamon Ice Cream. It was SO delicious; I will definitely be making this again.

3 c light cream (i used 2 c heavy cream)
2/3 c sugar (i used sugar in the raw)
1/4 t vanilla extract
1 t ground cinnamon
1/2 t ground black pepper
1 c crushed strawberries

Heat cream in large saucepan. Do not let the cream boil. Remove from heat, add sugar, and stir until dissolved. Whisk in vanilla, cinnamon, pepper & strawberries. cover and chill in refrigerator. Complete the process in your ice cream maker. Freeze to harden.

I know, I know... black pepper in ice cream? I'm serious, you barely even notice it is there, but it totally brings out the flavor of the berries and warms the flavor up. The cinnamon is a great compliment too. Try it, you'll like it!

Feist on Sesame Street

OMG, how cute is this? I'm guessing a lot of you don't get a chance to watch Sesame Street, so here's Feist, who changed her famous 1234 song to be Muppet friendly, now appearing on Sesame Street!

The Whip | Coatesville, PA

One of our favorite restaurants is The Whip Tavern. It's sort of in the middle of nowhere, but so worth it to make the effort to find it. They serve traditional English pub fare and have many amazing beers on tap. We've gone for brunch, lunch and dinner and never had a bad meal there.
Here's a sampling of a lunch from The Whip:

My TV boyfriends

When I was a teenager, I had a lot of TV crushes: Michael J Fox, Kirk Cameron, Davy Jones, Jason Bateman, That Silver Spoons kid (Ricky Schroeder!)... the usual TV heart-throbs of the 80s (well Davy Jones was in reruns).

It seems some things haven't changed. I have a whole new cadre of TV boyfriends!!
Here they are:

David Tennant (aka the 10th Doctor)
Tennant_2

Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs
Mikerowe

Joel McHale (The Soup)
Joelmchale

Chandler Bing (yes, he's the character, I know)

Interestingly enough, my real-life boyfriend is pretty amused at my TV crushes, even calling me to tell me one of them is on TV and to change the channel.

So who are your fake boyfriends? A tv character? Movie star? Leave me a comment and let me know so I know I'm not the only one who has crushes on fake people!

Favorite {Photo} Friday! (#6 & #7)

Two for the price of one today! I missed favorite photo Friday last week so I'm going to make up for the missed week.

DSCF4802
The first photo is from my recent trip to Bar Harbor, ME. We were at the Burning Tree Restaurant and I wore a little black dress with a pink Pashmina wrap. H and I sat with our friends JenS and Mike at a table for 4. My shawl fell on the floor and Mike picked it up and asked who it belonged to. Kathy, who was sitting at the table behind us, snatched it from him and put it on his head lke a bandana! I happened to just click my camera at just the right time and got these great expressions! I love photos that capture the moment!

DSCF6083
This was the last shot of the day in 2006 down in Cape May, NJ. The light was just changing because a storm was rolling in. As we were walking back to our cars, I could see the lighthouse in the distance. I didn't realize how bright the colors of the seagrass would be against the grey sky. It looks like fall at the beach and that's probably because it was September.

Are you playing along? I know Cameron is. Show us your Favorite {Photo} Fridays!

Mini Knit-Along: BOB Sweater

BOB

I spotted this sweater over at Not Martha and thought, what a great project to launch me back into knitting!
I've been stashbusting with my Yarn Sale and still have enough yarn accumulated for 6 sweaters. Luckily this pattern would work with some of that yarn I have stashed away!

I emailed Emmie to see if she wanted to join me on a mini knit along and she said yes! She purchased her yarn today and we're going to start on the 18th (assuming her yarn arrives by then!)

The pattern is the BOB (Button On Blanket) sweater by Yarnish. It's knit in Bulky yarn on size 10.5 needles, so that will make for some fast knitting.  Emmie and I will both be using Araucania Nature Wool Chunky she in charcol gray and me in heathered pink.  If we stay committed and meet every 2 weeks, we should have a cozy sweater to wear this fall & winter!

You can download the free pattern from her website here.

Interested in joining us? Email me and we can start a yahoo group to share tips, questions and the joy finished sweaters!
