"Flip"-ing out

Flip

I am totally coveting this Flip Video Camera. And of course I want the pink one!
I've never been one to want a video camera, but this one would be great for MINI rallies and other fun video-worthy events. I love that you can just plug it right into you computer with the attached USB, uh, thingie.

Other features include:

  • One-touch recording and digital zoom
  • Holds 60 minutes of full VGA-quality video on 2GB of built-in memory; no tapes or additional memory cards required
  • Built-in software lets you easily e-mail videos, upload to YouTube and AOL, and capture still photos from video
  • Watch videos instantly on TV with included cable

Target has it on sale (web-only) for $159.99
Amazon has it a little cheaper for $149.04

And how much do I love that Target has a whole section of their website dedicated to Pink Electronics!

Try to make me go to rehab, I said yes, yes, yes...

Get a free reusable tote from the method line of cleaners.  I love the method line and am so excited to get this tote. I'll be spending my $20 tomorrow at Target. Hopefully mine will have the Christmas line! I need to stock up on the vanilla peppermint!

If it's free, it's for me!

What's better than something free?
Something that's free and well done in a professional manner.

I love collecting patterns, but it gets expensive (and heavy) when I keep buying books.

I just discovered Knitting Daily from a post on the ravelry forums.  They offer free patterns, daily posts, tips and tricks and best of all it's totally free! They are also affiliated with Interweave Press, so the patterns are professionally written (in PDF format), include photos and diagrams and great instructions.

I should probably go buy another 3 ring binder for all the patterns I plan on downloading! I've already found a few sock patterns I'd like to try out!

Need to send some 'tude?

Ever stand in front of the display at your local card store struggling to find the right card amidst the sappy, drippy, gooey cards for sale? Tired of the same old "I picked this one just for you" card with the photo of the 2 year old with his finger up his nose?  Not offended by some off-color language?

Check out the cards sold at tudify.com (no www necessary!)

Ranging from birthday to graduation to get well cards, Tudify can make you giggle or cringe and might fit the bill for that "special" occasion. Tudify gives you the option to have the card sent to you to complete or you can have them send it on your behalf with your message included.

I received this card for my birthday from my cat, Ginger:
Tudify

The inside says, ”I would have brought you something, but I hate you.”
Pretty much what Ginger would tell me if she could talk.

It's been a while

since I have been inspired by a knitting pattern. I've been spending my time putting together fabrics for future quilts and knitting obligatory gifts (still working on those mother's day socks!!!) But today in my Inbox, I received the November issue of Magknits. I am really loving the Basic Black sweater by Glenna C.

Basicblack

It's simple, feminine and won't add a lot of bulk. It's suggested to knit using DK Wildflower, which I have knit with before and not really enjoyed so I might try swatching it in Cotton Fleece. I'd really like to knit it in black as shown (plus it is the primary color we wear at work) but I have enough Cotton Fleece in pink from a failed GiGi attempt. It would be a great stashbuster and since I love knitting with Cotton Fleece, might actually have a better chance as a finished object.

While I'm deciding, I'll keep working on those obligatory gifts (stocking for nephew, did I mention those socks??)

Oh! and if you are wondering what I decided with the hourglass sweater sleeves, I moved to DPNs. However, I am getting a totally different gauge and need to increase my needle size. Apparently I am a much tighter knitter on DPNs! Stay tuned for more progress photos of the hourglass!

Apparently, Meryl Streep's place is in the kitchen

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Meryl Streep will whip up some culinary delights as Julia Child in a movie about a woman inspired by the cooking icon.

"Julie & Julia" is an adaptation of the 2005 book by Julie Powell, "Julie & Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen." Amy Adams ("Junebug") is in negotiations to co-star as Powell.

The Columbia Pictures film follows Powell, a government worker who decides to cook her way through Child's classic "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" in one year out of her small Brooklyn kitchen. Powell blogs her daily experiences, gaining a loyal following along the way.

Nora Ephron will direct from her own script. Streep has starred in two films written by Ephron, 1983's "Silkwood" and 1986's "Heartburn." Streep, currently in theaters with "Rendition," stars in Robert Redford's November 9 release "Lions for Lambs." Adams stars in "Enchanted," which opens November 21.
