Home Sweet Home

Hsh

I'm back home after surgery and spending a week with friends who took time out of their busy schedules to nurse me back to health.

I had no idea just how much pain I would be in after surgery! For 5 days after, I was taking percocet every 3 hours to kill the pain in my leg. The surgery took 3 hours (2 hours longer than expected). The nerve was encased by bone and disc matter and they actually had to move the nerve to a more open space to keep it from being touched and triggering down my leg. Because of that I am experiencing some numbness in one of my toes and my calf as well as some pain at the incision site.

I have weaned myself off of the hard pain meds and am taking Motrin. I'm sleeping more than 5 hours per night and taking it easy by drinking tea, catching up on my TiVo and finishing up some knitting and scrapbooking projects.  I'm not allowed to do any heavy lifting, bending or twisting so I am just taking it easy and letting people pamper me for the next few weeks.

Thanks to everyone for your well-wishes! I'll be back to my usual self in a few weeks!

Thank You.

Thanks to everyone who posted well-wishes for my surgery on Monday. I will be off-line for the next few days or so. I'll be back with an update once I am feeling good enough!

Covet: Trash Ties by Heather Bailey

Have you seen these? I am totally coveting them! I have shoulder length curly hair that has a mind of it's own. It is too thick for bobby pins and clips.

I love how many ways they can be used. You can get them in long and short versions to create simple or elaborate updos. The hardest part will be picking what color I want to order!

Well I am already 5 days behind on my Thing-a-day challenge, but I was thrown off course with the news that I will be having back surgery next week. I've been struggling for months with 2 herniated discs (L4 & L5) and they are pressing on my sciactic nerve which has been giving me constant pain down my left leg.

Monday is the big day and I have high hopes that this is the answer I've been looking for. After being disappointed with epidural steroid injections and pain pills that don't work, I am ready to be back to my fast-paced self.

Wish me luck and I promise to report back next week!
